The Cementing Basket is designed to run on the casing string or liner to support a cement column to prevent contamination of a lower zone or to keep hydrostatic head of a column from breaking down a weak formation. The Basket consists of flexible steel springs that support overlapping rubber liners. The Basket is placed on the casing with movement limited by pipe couplings or by welding the ring of the basket directly to the casing. Stop rings may also be used to selectively space the Baskets between Collars without welding.
